We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join our client’s team in Vlissingen or Schiedam. In this role, you will lead the development and integration of advanced automation systems for naval vessels, from concept through commissioning, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards while collaborating with internal teams, partners, and suppliers.

Aufgaben

  • Draft functional descriptions and essential engineering documentation for the automation of shipboard systems.
  • Prepare and update technical specifications for all automation components and their installation.
  • Create comprehensive testing and validation procedures to ensure compliance with classification society standards and client requirements, including simulations and factory/harbor/sea acceptance tests (FAT, HAT, SAT).
  • Coordinate and manage input from external suppliers and subcontractors to meet project timelines and technical scope.
  • Review technical designs from vendors and subcontractors and integrate them effectively into the ship’s automation architecture.
  • Establish and document engineering standards and work processes for automation and commissioning phases.
  • Contribute to tender and proposal efforts by outlining conceptual automation system designs.
  • Support project execution through hands-on involvement in technical troubleshooting and commissioning activities.

Anforderungen

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least five years of hands-on experience in the design and implementation of complex PLC/SCADA automation systems, ideally within maritime, offshore, or aerospace environments.
  • Strong background in managing multidisciplinary engineering projects involving multiple stakeholders, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Experience with systems engineering (V-model) is an advantage
  • EU citizenship (due to the military nature of the projects)
  • Clean security record and professional references

  • A competitive salary of €4,500–€6,300 depending on experience and qualifications.
