Referenznummer vacancies-330-B, Aalsmeer, Nederland

Electrical
Where shipboard power is engineered to perform. This role sits at the heart of modern marine electrical engineering, focused on the design and integration of shipboard power systems where Battery Energy Storage Systems are a fundamental part of the architecture. The position operates within a regulated maritime environment and covers the full technical lifecycle, from electrical system design and analysis through class approval and commissioning support. Power systems are developed to perform under real operational profiles, with BESS treated as an integral element of generation, distribution, and energy management.

Aufgaben

Shipboard Power System Engineering

  • Design and develop marine electrical power systems covering generation, distribution, automation, and lighting.

  • Define power system architectures suitable for modern hybrid and energy-optimized vessels.

  • Ensure robustness, redundancy, selectivity, and operational reliability under marine conditions.

Battery Energy Storage Systems Integration

  • Design and integrate BESS as a core component of shipboard power systems.

  • Define system architecture, sizing, and performance characteristics for marine BESS applications.

  • Analyse interaction between BESS, generators, converters, and energy management systems.

  • Support commissioning and operational validation of shipboard BESS installations.

Analysis and Technical Validation

  • Perform detailed electrical calculations including load flow, short-circuit and fault analysis.

  • Execute power system simulations and performance studies.

  • Validate design decisions through analytical assessment, including the impact of BESS on system behaviour.

Compliance and Class Approval

  • Design in accordance with marine classification society rules such as DNV, Lloyd’s Register and ABS.

  • Ensure compliance with flag state and international maritime regulations.

  • Prepare technical documentation suitable for class approval and design reviews.

  • Translate regulatory requirements into executable electrical designs.

Anforderungen

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in electrical engineering with a clear focus on shipboard power systems.

  • Demonstrated experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems in marine applications.

  • Proven involvement in the design, integration, and commissioning of shipboard BESS.

  • Strong understanding of marine electrical power generation, distribution, and control systems.

  • Practical experience working within classification society frameworks such as DNV, Lloyd’s Register or ABS.

  • Strong capability in performing complex electrical calculations and system analyses.

Tools and Engineering Environment

  • Experience with power system analysis tools such as ETAP or equivalent.

  • Proficiency with electrical design tools including AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.

  • Experience with simulation tools for power systems and BESS behaviour, with Matlab or Simulink considered an advantage.

  • Engineering tools used to support technical judgement, not replace it.

Konditionen

  • Salary aligned with experience and level of responsibility.
  • Assistance with relocation, housing advice, and general support.
  • At least 27 days of paid holidays, 13 additional ADV holidays may apply.
  • Compensation for commuting costs.
  • Language course compensation up to €500.
  • Invitations to industry events and conventions such as METSTRADE, SMM, Offshore Energy
