How would you like your career to develop this year?

As an engineer, you build your career every day.

Often without calling it that. Through the projects you choose, the responsibility you take, and the way you collaborate and make decisions.

From time to time, there’s a moment when you pause and reflect. Maybe between two projects. Or when you notice that your work comes more naturally than it used to. You know what you’re good at, where you add value, and what suits you.

That’s when space opens up to look a little further.

At a role that fits you better. At a type of project that gives you energy. Or at responsibility that feels like a natural next step, but that you’ve never really explored.

How would you like your career to develop this year?

You don’t need to change everything to move forward

Wanting to explore something new doesn’t mean starting over.

For many engineers, development happens through small shifts. Within your field. Within your experience. Within the kind of work you do every day.

A different project can suddenly add depth, or bring you into contact with other disciplines. Sometimes the change lies in international collaboration, sometimes in work that simply aligns better with what matters to you now. Often, you only realise afterwards how much impact such a shift had, without there ever being one big decision.

Middle Point knows the exciting projects

Middle Point has been working with a large number of shipyards and maritime companies in the Netherlands and Germany for many years. That keeps us closely connected to what’s happening in the sector, not only today, but looking ahead.

We often know which projects are coming up long before they become public. Which teams are being formed. Which expertise will be needed next.

That insight makes thoughtful matching possible. We only connect engineers and clients when it truly makes sense, for you, for the company, and for the project. A genuine win-win-win.

Europe attracts engineers for a reason

Many engineers deliberately choose Europe because of the maritime sector. Not just because of the projects, but because of the level at which the work is done.

In countries like the Netherlands and Germany, standards are high. You don’t come here to turn your career upside down, but to work on challenging projects. At a high level. With people who share the same mindset.

Working in a way that suits you

Every engineer has their own reasons for considering a new project. Sometimes you’re looking for more stability. Sometimes for variety. And sometimes you simply want to understand your options, without having to decide anything yet.

That’s why Middle Point offers different ways of working. Project-based, through flexible arrangements, or with the option to eventually join a client directly. There’s no fixed route to follow. What matters is what fits your situation and your way of working.

Stay informed

Middle Point is not just a link between engineers and clients. It’s a community of like-minded professionals. Engineers working on a wide range of maritime projects, across different shipyards and companies.

Because we work with many clients at the same time, we have a broad view of the market. Simply by being connected, you benefit from that insight. Often, you hear about opportunities and projects before they are widely known.

That doesn’t mean you need to take action right away. Being connected is enough. For many engineers, that calm position is exactly what makes it valuable.

Stay connected. Stay informed.

If you’re in a good place right now, that’s no reason to stand still. It’s actually a good moment to reflect calmly on direction. How would you like your career to develop this year?

Not through big leaps or sharp decisions, but through the work you do, the projects you contribute to, and the space you allow yourself to grow further.
