Electrical
Where system interaction is engineered. This role operates at the core of naval electrical engineering, ensuring electromagnetic compatibility across highly complex vessel systems. EMC requirements are embedded into power distribution architectures, cable configurations and system layouts to guarantee reliable operation under the most demanding military conditions. Engineering activities span the full lifecycle, from concept and basic design through detailed engineering, verification and commissioning. Working within a model-based engineering environment following the V-model, designs are validated through simulation, testing and trials to meet strict class, military and customer requirements.

Tasks

Electrical and EMC Engineering

  • Develop functional descriptions, schematics and basic design documentation for power distribution, lighting and electrical systems.

  • Design EMC-compliant power distribution systems and cable configurations for complex naval platforms.

  • Support Integrated Topside Design activities to ensure electromagnetic compatibility across all military and mission-critical equipment.

Verification, Validation and Testing

  • Define EMC-focused test and validation strategies.

  • Prepare detailed test plans for virtual testing, simulations and physical trials.

  • Support factory acceptance tests, harbour acceptance tests and sea acceptance tests.

  • Verify compliance with class rules, naval standards and customer requirements.

Supplier and Interface Coordination

  • Review and assess supplier and subcontractor designs against EMC requirements.

  • Support integration of third-party systems into the overall ship design.

  • Maintain EMC alignment across internal disciplines and external stakeholders.

Standards and Engineering Support

  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, guidelines and working methods related to EMC and electrical design.

  • Support proposal and quotation phases by embedding EMC requirements into conceptual electrical designs.

  • Provide technical input during production and commissioning activities.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
