We are seeking an Exterior Engineering Coordinator to join a high-profile superyacht refit project taking place in La Ciotat, France. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking rebuild that introduces next-generation sustainable technologies, including hybrid propulsion systems powered by methanol, fuel cells, and batteries. In this role, you will take the lead on all exterior-related engineering activities during the detailed design and production phases. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of coordinators across structural, systems, interior, and electrical disciplines to ensure smooth integration, compliance with international standards, and timely delivery of the project.

Tasks

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating external engineering partners and subcontractors, reviewing and approving technical documentation.
  • Managing interfaces with other disciplines to ensure alignment of design and production.
  • Ensuring compliance with class and flag requirements as well as project-specific standards.
  • Supporting procurement through technical evaluations and supplier documentation.
  • Providing technical guidance during production, FATs, and design reviews.
  • Ensuring high quality and consistency across all exterior engineering deliverables.

This assignment offers an initial duration of around 8 months in France, with the possibility to extend into the outfitting stage depending on project progress and your expertise.

Job requirements

  • Educational background in naval architecture, marine engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in yacht, shipbuilding, or offshore engineering, ideally within refit or exterior systems integration.
  • Strong knowledge of class and flag requirements, as well as international maritime standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate subcontractors and manage outsourced engineering packages.
  • Solid understanding of multidisciplinary interfaces (hull, outfitting, systems, electrical, interior).
  • Hands-on technical expertise, with the ability to review and approve design documentation.
  • Experience supporting procurement with technical evaluations and supplier documentation.
  • Practical exposure to production, FATs, and technical clarifications.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken); French is an advantage.
  • Willingness to follow a hybrid  - freelance work setup
