Exterior

We are looking for a highly skilled Exterior Surface Modeler to join the Structural Design Department of a major yachtbuilder in Northern Germany. The project involves the construction of a one-of-a-kind superyacht, combining advanced engineering with exceptional surface quality.

This is not a styling or conceptual design role. Your primary focus will be on creating buildable exterior surface geometry that aligns with engineering and production requirements. The ability to translate complex forms into fair, smooth, and manufacturable surfaces is essential.

Tasks

  • Create high-quality exterior surfaces (hull, decks, superstructure) with Class-A or near-Class-A accuracy.
  • Work with tools such as CATIA (GSD or ICEM Surf)Siemens NX, or Alias to model surfaces that meet both aesthetic and structural requirements.
  • Ensure all surfaces are buildable, taking into account welding, plate forming, fairing and structural integration.
  • Collaborate closely with structural engineers, outfit teams and production to ensure surfaces are fabrication-ready.
  • Integrate production feedback into the surfacing process during the design-build lifecycle.

Job requirements

  • Solid experience with exterior surfacing in the yacht or automotive industry.
  • Expertise in Class-A surfacing and curvature continuity (G1–G3), with a strong grasp of geometric tolerances.
  • An engineering mindset with a deep understanding of manufacturability.
  • The ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary on-site team.
  • Availability on short notice for relocation to Northern Germany.
  • Fluency in English; German is a plus.

Conditions

  • Competitive salary;
  • Assistance with relocation, visa applications, housing advice, and general support to help you settle in;
  • Compensation for commuting costs;
  • Remote working policy;
  • Language course compensation up to €500;
  • Yearly social events;
  • Invitations to attend industry events and conventions such as METSTRADE, SMM, Offshore Energy.
