Automation As a Lead Engineer Control Systems, you will be responsible for delivering technically sound automation systems for mission-critical maritime equipment. You will play a key role in designing and supervising the development of custom control systems used in dredging installations, propulsion systems, and platform automation.
Ensuring the technical quality of automation systems on ships and maritime equipment
Designing system architectures, control panels, and I/O cabinets
Taking technical ownership of automation solutions throughout the project lifecycle
Supporting project managers with planning and deadline tracking
Translating customer requirements into technical specifications and basic designs
Advising on automation best practices and acting as a point of contact for customers, suppliers, and colleagues
Managing a team of engineers, depending on project size, to ensure design excellence
Job requirements
A degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field
Proven experience in a similar engineering role, preferably within the maritime, dredging, or offshore industries
Strong technical knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems and electrical installations
Confident in preparing I/O lists, technical specifications, and functional requirements
Skilled communicator with a hands-on, team-oriented approach
Comfortable working in English; Dutch language skills are an asset
Familiarity with safety standards, quality regulations, and certification procedures
A valid EU work permit is required to be considered for this position
