Electrical
Where engineering intent becomes build ready reality. This role sits at the heart of shipbuilding execution for custom luxury yacht newbuilds. The focus lies on engineering readiness, preparation quality, and alignment between design and production. As Lead Project Engineer, responsibility centres on ensuring that shipbuilding engineering output is complete, coordinated, and executable before it reaches the yard. The role operates in close proximity to production, translating engineering intent into build-ready information and preventing surprises during construction.

Tasks

Engineering Coordination

  • Lead shipbuilding engineering activities per project.

  • Coordinate and direct CAD draftsmen within shipbuilding scope.

  • Align shipbuilding output with mechanical systems, interior engineering, coatings, and stainless steel.

  • Ensure drawing quality, consistency, and logical sequencing.

  • Provide technical leadership rather than direct drawing production.

Production Interface

  • Maintain continuous alignment with production teams.

  • Operate in close physical proximity to the yard and build halls.

  • Adjust engineering output based on real production constraints and feedback.

  • Bridge desk-based engineering with shop-floor execution.

Procurement and Supplier Interface

  • Ensure required materials and technical inputs are entered into systems in time.

  • Coordinate with purchasing to support correct delivery sequencing.

  • Maintain technical contact with suppliers and subcontractors to enable timely procurement.

  • Enable buying without taking on buyer responsibility.

Cross-Disciplinary Governance

  • Drive weekly alignment with Mechanical and Interior Engineering project leaders.

  • Participate in preparation and production meetings.

  • Prevent siloed decisions by structuring coordination across disciplines.

  • Facilitate structured problem solving at project level.

Job requirements

Technical Foundation

  • Background in Naval Architecture or Shipbuilding Engineering.

  • Strong understanding of hull structures, shipbuilding sequencing, and outfitting implications.

  • High level of design literacy across shipbuilding disciplines.

Yard Experience

  • Proven exposure to shipyards or newbuild environments.

  • Experience operating at the interface between engineering and production.

  • Yachtbuilding experience preferred, but engineering-led shipbuilding experience is essential.

Tools

  • Fluent in AutoCAD.

  • Working knowledge of Rhino strongly preferred.

  • Ability to lead and assess CAD output based on technical understanding.

Conditions

  • Salary between €4,00 and €5,600 per month, aligned with experience, qualifications, and the applicable Maritime CAO.
  • 27 vacation days and an additional 13 ADV days, in line with company policy.
  • Annual profit distribution;
  • Compensation for commuting costs and business travel.
  • Invitations to key industry conventions and networking events such as METSTRADE, SMM, and the Monaco Yacht Show

Company Profile

Our Partner operates at the top end of custom luxury yachtbuilding, delivering fully bespoke newbuilds where shipbuilding engineering precision directly determines build quality and schedule reliability.

Engineering teams work in close proximity to the yard, production halls, and commissioning activities. The environment values preparation discipline, technical ownership, and calm coordination across highly complex, multi-disciplinary projects.

You'll operate within the Shipbuilding Engineering department and reports to the Shipbuilding Manager. The position works horizontally across disciplines and in parallel with project leaders in Mechanical Engineering and Interior Engineering.

Ownership lies with the coordination, preparation, and readiness of shipbuilding engineering data. The role ensures that production receives information that is technically correct, properly sequenced, and aligned with planning, budget, weight, and yard realities.
