We are looking for highly communicative Project Engineers (System Responsible)  with passion in shipbuilding who can  bridge the gap between design, engineering, production, and quality assurance, ensuring that all departments align toward delivering a complex vessel on time and to spec. You will be responsible for a specific equipment item/s or system in the accommodation areas of the ship. An example of which are PE / System Responsible  for doors (mechanical aspect) and locking systems; kitchen and galleys, laundry room, etc.

Tasks

As a Project Engineer specializing in equipment item / systems,  you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the design, procurement, and implementation of specific onboard assemblies such doors and locking systems  in all rooms and public areas. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Technical Ownership: Managing individual interior assemblies from design to delivery, ensuring alignment with project goals and quality standards.

  • Supplier & Design Management: Coordinating with external suppliers and, when needed, contributing to the technical development and detailing of outfitted spaces and systems.

  • 3D Design Oversight: Acting as the main interface between internal teams and design partners, supervising 3D modeling processes to ensure feasibility and compliance with shipbuilding standards.

  • Procurement & Logistics: Supporting procurement efforts, including preparation of purchase requisitions, managing supplier inputs, and contributing to turnkey solution evaluations.

  • Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborating closely with procurement, design, and construction teams, as well as managing technical communication between different suppliers, trades, and stakeholders.

  • Construction & Commissioning Support: Addressing technical queries during construction, participating in system commissioning, and supporting service acceptance and handover processes.

  • Client Interface: Maintaining professional communication with customers if needed, including shipping companies and architects, ensuring satisfaction and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

Job requirements

  • Highly educated (Master's Degree) with a solid technical degree in Architecture, Mechanical, Interior Design, Industrial Design, or a similar field.

  • Bonus points for experience in the maritime world, shipbuilding in particular and understands how to manage a project.

  • Confident with CAD tools — especially CATIA V6 and AutoCAD — and ready to bring concepts to life in 3D.

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German skills are a definite plus! Most importantly, you should be highly communicative, very proactive and eager to learn - training will be provided!

  • Deadline-driven, negotiation-savvy, and known for working with precision, independence, and a no-nonsense sense of reliability.
