Electrical
Where system architecture sets naval performance. Electrical and automation concepts define how a naval vessel thinks, moves, fights and survives. In this role, those concepts are created at the very start. System architecture, power philosophy and automation strategy are shaped long before detailed engineering begins. Concept decisions made here set the course for entire platforms. Load balances, system interaction, automation levels and electromagnetic control measures are defined with one goal in mind: delivering naval vessels that perform under the most demanding operational conditions.

Taken

Shaping Electrical and Automation Concepts

  • Define electrical system architectures for complex naval vessels.

  • Develop electrical load balances, power generation and distribution concepts.

  • Establish automation philosophies and Integrated Ship Management System layouts.

  • Define electromagnetic control measures and system interaction principles.

  • Evaluate subsystems and technologies to support concept selection.

Driving Proposal Engineering

  • Translate operational and customer requirements into coherent technical concepts.

  • Produce concept descriptions, technical specifications and engineering reports.

  • Develop cost estimates, risk assessments and engineering schedules.

  • Support proposal teams during technical discussions and customer engagement.

Bedrijfsprofiel

This organisation designs and delivers advanced naval vessels for defence customers worldwide. Multidisciplinary engineering teams operate at the intersection of shipbuilding, systems engineering and digital design.

The Concept Design Engineer Electrical & Automation Systems operates at the front end of naval ship design. Work begins in the proposal and pre-contract phase, translating operational intent into robust electrical and automation architectures.

This position combines system-level thinking, technical creativity and structured engineering. Electrical power, automation and manning concepts are developed as integrated shipwide systems, not isolated disciplines.

Close collaboration takes place with product management, proposal engineering and innovation teams. Clear technical narratives, specifications and concept documents support decision-making for both internal stakeholders and defence customers.
