An exciting role as Technical Specification Engineer has opened up for our client, known for their exemplary standing in the naval industry. Office location is in Rotterdam Area.

In this role, your responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks within the realm of Marine Engineering. This involvement spans from the initial proposal phase through to the final delivery stage. Collaborating within a team of multiple engineers during project execution is essential, aimed at producing the necessary engineering outcomes. Integrating both technical and practical expertise into the design is a key aspect, alongside ensuring accurate storage of pertinent data in the system.

 

Tasks

As Technical Specification Engineer, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Formulating (operational) technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors, drawing upon both customer demands and design prerequisites.
  • Collaborating closely with the procurement unit, critically assessing supplier quotations from a technical perspective.
  • Ensuring the absolute adherence to all stipulated requisites dictated by customers and relevant governing bodies.
  • Establishing and maintaining robust professional rapport with technical liaisons from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Engaging in technical dialogues aimed at attaining equitable levels of compliance among competing suppliers of identical products or systems, thus laying a solid foundation for subsequent commercial negotiations.
  • Procuring and assessing engineering particulars and records from suppliers, encompassing mechanical blueprints, schematics, computations, electrical charts, and more.
  • Integrating received components and systems into the ship's design, working in tandem with internal divisions, suppliers, regulatory entities, and the proprietor.
  • Contributing to and updating the engineering repository, encompassing facets such as purchase orders, components, metadata, and records.
  • Executing essential technical computations to ratify the soundness of the design.
  • Crafting documents detailing technical and operational specifications for materials like System Description Statements, HAT (Hold Acceptance Test) procedures, and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) procedures.
  • Validating the technical efficiency of products and systems, including inspecting equipment at supplier premises and executing Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Offering technical assistance for commissioning operations.
  • Actively participating in design appraisals and evaluations to assure the requisite caliber.

Job requirements

To be successful for the role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in Mechanical or Marine Engineering, including interaction with regulatory bodies.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, especially in ship, offshore, or industrial settings.
  • Ability to collaborate with third-party vendors and subcontractors.
  • Desired attributes: emphasis on quality, planning, budget management, occasional willingness to travel abroad.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Dutch and English.
  • Requirement of EU citizenship and successful security clearance for candidacy.
