Our client, a successful family-owned company (around 50 employees on average ) based in Bremen, Germany is looking for a Head of Technical Department with Naval Architecture qualification to lead their engineering team. The company is well-known for its innovative shipyard solutions for special boats, including private customer business as well as a successful supplier for mega yachts sectors both national and international.

In addition, the company group has created another important focus that can be used in the development and construction of innovative products in the fibre composite part for shipbuilding, aviation and automobile industry.

Aufgaben

As Head of Technical Department, your task scope includes but not limited to:

  • Naval Architecture, engineering, and composite engineering of the yard´s products for the super yacht industry
  • Close collaboration with shop floor
  • Subcontractor management
  • Project management and project coordination – technical side
  • Supervision of plan production
  • Class liaison
  • Technical sales assistance
  • Optimization of business processes
  • Presenting company on “tradeshows/ fairs, etc.
  • Leadership for complete engineering team – 3 to 5 engineers
  • Monitoring and optimize work processes within the projects, within the team
  • Preparation of technical offer and calculation
  • Technical documentation
  • As member of the upper management, taking part in strategic discussions and decisions

Anforderungen

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Master’s Degree in Naval Architecture
  • Skilled in yacht and special craft design with focus on Naval Architecture and 3D- Modelling
  • Solid understanding of ship and marine structures in composites and advanced composites
  • Substantial practical experience in/and according to shipyard industry or construction department preferably in boatbuilding, small crafts
  • Passion for small crafts
  • Very good experience in the field of special construction
  • Project management experiences
  • Knowledge in dealing with materials such as plastics, fibre composites, preferably experiences in wood
  • High level of SolidWorks (parametric modelling) and Auto CAD (2D/3D)
  • High motivation and good assertiveness
  • High level of initiative, autonomy and strong communication and organization skills
  • Communications skills in English (must) and German (ideal)
  • Great customer and supplier relationship management skills
