Project Leader Engineer

Our client is looking for a Project Lead Engineer who takes full ownership of major engineering packages within the construction of world-class luxury superyachts. This is not a coordination role. You will act as the technical and commercial owner of your package, driving scope definition, engineering execution, budget control, planning, risk management, and successful delivery.

You will operate at the heart of multidisciplinary yacht projects, ensuring that engineering solutions are technically sound, commercially viable, and fully aligned with project objectives.

Your responsibilities include:

• Own and deliver assigned engineering packages from concept design through production and delivery.
• Define package scope, technical requirements, budgets, planning, and deliverables.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate activities across all disciplines.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet project milestones, quality standards, and budget targets.
• Review and approve technical documentation, drawings, calculations, and 3D models.
• Manage technical interfaces between engineering, production, suppliers, subcontractors, and classification societies.
• Monitor package progress, risks, costs, and resource allocation.
• Drive technical decision-making and implement effective solutions to project challenges.
• Manage scope changes and safeguard project objectives, timelines, and budgets.
• Ensure engineering solutions are practical, manufacturable, and compliant with applicable regulations.
• Support commissioning activities and sea trial preparations when required.

• BSc or MSc in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding or yacht building.
• Proven experience within yacht construction (mandatory).
• Candidates must already have the legal right to work in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Demonstrated experience owning and delivering engineering packages from concept through delivery.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of shipbuilding processes, engineering workflows, and production methods.
• Knowledge of CATIA, 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX), and/or Siemens NX is strongly preferred.
• Experience managing budgets, planning, risks, and engineering deliverables.
• Familiarity with classification societies, suppliers, subcontractors, and owner representatives.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Commercially aware with a focus on scope control, quality, and project performance.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is considered an advantage.
