Tasks

As a Lead Structural Engineer/ Sr. Naval Architect (m/w/d) you will oversee and provide structural engineering solutions for shipbuilding and refit projects. Working within a collaborative team, you will guide junior employees, perform structural assessments, and ensure compliance with class rules. This role requires strategic thinking and hands-on problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform hand calculations to provide structural solutions and verify the integrity of existing structures.
  • Review and analyze ship structures to ensure compliance with class rules and regulations.
  • Develop and optimize structural designs, focusing on structural integrity and efficiency.
  • Guide junior engineers, providing mentorship and support for their professional development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align on project objectives and deliverables.
  • Subcontractor management.
  • Offer technical insights and practical solutions during the design and production phases.

Job requirements

  • 10+ years relevant experience with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field (localized equivalent).
  • Conversational German language skills or strong willingness to learn
  • Proven experience in structural engineering, particularly in shipyards.
  • Proficiency in hand calculations for structural analysis and solutions.
  • Solid understanding of class rules and shipbuilding regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience mentoring junior engineers.
  • Knowledge in CADMATIC is a great advantage
  • This is an onsite position, candidate must be willing to relocate and be based in the office in Bremerhaven.
