We are collaborating with one of our long-standing clients based in Germany to recruit for a Project Engineer to join their project engineering team in Hamburg. This a permanent position with the opportunity to work from home for a few days per week (hybrid work policy).

Tasks

As an integral part of the electrical and systems engineering team, your work scope includes but not limited to:

  • Taking ownership of project within Lighting (lighting calculation, lighting control) or Security systems (e.g. fire detection system, public address & general alarm system, camera systems) or Communication systems (e.g. telephone systems, intercom systems) or a combination.
  • Providing analysis of customer inquiries according to technical requirements and special classification features
  • Material Logistics - Responsible for the order process and to get quotes from supplier and creating materials, data and contracts in SAP.
  • Elaboration and clarification of detailed technical concepts for the fulfilment of the customer specifications with the sub-suppliers
  • Providing technical installation advice
  • Creation of CAD drawings for cable planning, arrangement, assembly and commissioning
  • Creation of test and handover protocols
  • Obtaining approvals from classification societies, shipping companies and shipyards
  • Monitoring of the sub-suppliers and internal departments for compliance with the deadline, technical and qualitative specifications during the commissioning of systems
  • Handing over of the systems to the shipping company and shipyard

Job requirements

To be considered for this position, it is essential to have or experience in:

  • Experience with systems for Security, Lighting, Entertainment and Safety, at least one of these areas - specifier detection systems, telephone systems, IT network systems
  • Electrotechnical background (Bachelor or Master) or relevant experience with electrical hardware
  • Marine Industry experience is ideal but not a must
  • Experience with Project Management tools such as MS Project Management would be a benefit
  • Experience with project work in general
  • Has worked at a shipyard and interest in shipbuilding
  • Open-minded, flexible and out-of-the-box thinker
  • A team player but can work with minimal supervision
  • Very good English communication skills, German a great advantage
