Are you ready to elevate your procurement expertise to new heights? Our client is at the forefront of maritime innovation, has established an innovative hub in Hamburg for its German projects. As they expand their German project team,  they are seeking to recruit an adept Tactical Purchaser.

In this pivotal role, you will be an essential member of one or more project teams, under the guidance of our Project Manager Procurement. Your mission? To streamline the procurement of products, materials, services, and outsourcing operations, aligning them seamlessly with project goals and schedules.

Tasks

In your role as a Tactical Project Purchaser based in Germany on a project-based assignment, your responsibilities include:

  • Tracking and reporting cost trends associated with essential commodities.
  • Ensuring the completeness, proper execution, and consideration of all cost variables in supplier contracts.
  • Conducting research, qualification, and evaluation of national suppliers and sub-contractors on a project basis.
  • Initiating market research efforts and fostering supplier development to establish and sustain a suitable supply base.
  • Spearheading improvement processes with suppliers, grounded in supplier qualification and evaluation.
  • Actively participating in category management, encompassing defining category strategies, strategy implementation, and execution.
  • Providing accurate and dependable information for budget and cost price calculations.
  • Developing and maintaining records of quotation evaluations and key performance indicators.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the procurement process, which includes specification, selection, evaluation, contracting, contract management, and post-contract care, in accordance with applicable procedures and project parameters.
  • Formulating proposals for standardization, creating framework contracts, and overseeing their monitoring and maintenance.
  • Ensuring the implementation and adherence to all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures, thus fostering a safe and healthy work environment.

 

Job requirements

To excel in the role of Tactical Project Purchaser, the following qualifications and attributes are essential:

  • Exceptional negotiation skills, combined with assertiveness and a self-directed, well-organized approach.
  • A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in a technical environment, with a strong background in procurement.
  • Proficiency in both German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Technical Bachelor Degree or similar, preferably with certified procurement trainings or willingness to enroll in such trainings.
  • Permanent multiyear EU citizenship
  • Efficiently procure products, materials, services, and outsourcing activities in alignment with project objectives and timelines.
