For a renowned shipbuilder located in the heart of the Netherlands, I am currently looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer, experienced in Industrial Automation, eager to become part of a cutting-edge team, and contribute to the development of the electrification and automation process of our client's vessels.

Tasks

As Lead Electrical Engineer (Industrial Automation), you will join the electrification team and contribute to the development and standardization of our client's technology for the electrification of various kind of vessels.
Your involvement starts at the beginning, with the development of the systems, and continues up until their implementations into the projects. 

Additionally, you will:

  • Engineering and managing a variety of systems, such as:
    • Power Management Systems (PMS)
    • Energy Management Systems (EMS)
    • Propulsion Control and Monitoring Systems for electric and hybrid propulsion
  • Contributing to the development of new technology for Electric and Hybrid propulsion systems.
  • Managing interfaces with other sub-systems in mechanical and shipbuilding disciplines.
  • Developing necessary deliverables for the engineering process, including:
    • Specification documents
    • Functional descriptions
    • System principles
    • Modular engineering building blocks
  • Supporting production locations during vessel manufacturing.
  • Assisting design and proposal engineers in developing new vessel designs.
  • Providing knowledge and training to the Services Department.
  • Supporting sub-systems throughout the complete vessel lifecycle.

Job requirements

To succeed in your role of Lead Electrical Engineer (Industrial Automation), you'll need:

  • BSc in a relevant technical discipline, combined with at least 4 years of relevant work experience (preferably within the maritime industry)
  • Previous experience with industrial automation systems such as PMS, EMS, and electric propulsion control systems
  • Experience working with international regulations and Classification Societies
  • Ability to translate product requirements into system requirements, concept designs, and basic engineering
  • Experience integrating electrical systems, preferably within the maritime industry
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (once or twice per year)
