We are excited to partner with our client who designs and manufactures Air Conditioning Systems for cruise liners, passenger vessels, and specialized vessels to recruit for a Project Engineer with design experience to be part of a team of Project Engineers within the Life Cycle Management team.

Based in Hamburg, Germany, you will be assigned to and assist complex and challenging retrofit projects (aftersales & warranty) and provide project management interfaces internally and externally.

As a Project Engineer, your responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Economic consideration of different ventilation concepts / ventilation components in the earliest phase of the ship development process ("pre-design")
  • Responsible for the timely preparation of delivery and spare parts documentation for new ship construction projects at the various shipyard locations in cooperation with external partner companies
  • Recording and processing of warranty cases in the first year after ship delivery in direct contact with the ship operators (shipping companies)
  • Establishment and processing of a sustainable spare parts business in direct contact with the ship operators (shipping companies)
  • Development and further development of an online-based tool for the sale of spare parts to shipping companies
  • Administrative processing of after-sales transactions (e.g. spare parts orders) including the preparation of delivery documents in cooperation with customers and suppliers
  • Organization of national and international transports taking into account legal regulations
  • Customs clearance (outgoing shipments) taking into account the applicable customs regulations in cooperation with external partner companies
  • Processing of conversion orders ("refurbishments") on existing cruise ships in cooperation with external partner companies
  • Supervision of trainees and interns

Functie eisen

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • 5+ years of practical and hands on experience within HVAC-R in shipbuilding is ideal. Refrigeration  focus is a great advantage 
  • Completed studies in the field of industrial engineering / business administration or commercial training with several years of professional experience
  • Business fluent English spoken and written, German a big plus
  • SAP knowledge is desirable
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel 30-50%  of the time 
  • Experience in the field of air conditioning ventilation in the maritime industry
  • High degree of customer and service orientation
  • Very good analytical and conceptual skills
