The desire to work on technically challenging and inspiring projects became stronger every year. After completing his master’s degree, he started thinking about the next step in his career.

Middle Point has been working with a large number of shipyards and maritime companies in the Netherlands and Germany for many years. That keeps us closely connected to what’s happening in the sector, not only today, but looking ahead. We often know which projects are coming up long before they become public. Which teams are being formed. Which expertise will be needed next.

Working in another country sounds exciting. And often, it is. A strong project, a different setting, maybe a role that suits you better than the one you have now. From a distance, it can look like a fairly simple next step. And sometimes it is. But usually, there is a bit more to it than the role alone. For most engineers, the real question is whether the whole thing fits once normal life begins. The work itself, the team, the language people actually use, the travel, the weekly rhythm. That is usually the point where an idea starts to feel either right or not quite right.
