HVAC Project Engineer - Shipbuilding

To support our client, a leading specialist in the development, optimisation and maintenance of innovative HVAC systems for the maritime industry, we are currently seeking an HVAC Project Engineer. In this role, you will oversee the development and optimisation of air-conditioning systems for modern cruise ships – from the early concept phase through to technical design and ongoing support during the ship’s operation.

Taken

  • Independent design and calculation of HVAC systems for cruise ships – from the concept phase through to technical implementation
  • Carrying out thermodynamic calculations and compiling consumption and performance data (e.g. cooling capacity, energy requirements)
  • Development of energy-efficient ventilation and air-conditioning concepts, as well as the selection and sizing of suitable HVAC components
  • Specification of all relevant HVAC parameters for technical contracts and project documentation
  • Coordination of suppliers and external partners, and review of technical documentation for quality, completeness and compliance with project requirements
  • Supporting technical project management, including scheduling, change management and technical cost assessments
  • Preparing handover, maintenance and spare parts documentation
  • Providing technical support for warranty claims and refurbishment projects, as well as support in after-sales and service matters
  • Working closely with shipyards, shipping companies, clients and interdisciplinary project teams throughout all project phases

Functie eisen

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, building services engineering, shipbuilding or a comparable discipline; alternatively, a master craftsman’s qualification with relevant professional experience
  • Several years’ professional experience in HVAC engineering, ideally in the maritime sector or shipbuilding
  • Experience in the design and calculation of HVAC systems, as well as a sound understanding of thermodynamic processes
  • Proficiency in CAD systems, ideally Cadmatic and/or CATIA
  • Knowledge of relevant maritime norms and standards (e.g. SOLAS, IMO or classification societies) is an advantage
  • Experience in technical project coordination and in dealing with suppliers and customers is desirable
  • Very good written and spoken English; knowledge of German is an advantage
  • An independent, structured approach to work, as well as strong teamwork and communication skills
